「高知での思い出」 デルフィン・Ｄ・ルフィノ 　私の乗ったノースウエスト機が関西国際空港に着陸しました。しかし、私はまだ「日出ずる国」にいることが信じられないでいました。私は胸の高鳴りを感じました。 　入国審査で第一の難関、言葉の壁に直面した時、その期待は心配に変わりました。フィリピンで日本語の集中講座に参加しなかったことを後悔した私は、その後受けた一ヶ月間の日本語研修を一生懸命頑張りました。そして二、三ヶ月後、私は少しの日本語を話し、いくらかの会話は理解できるようになりました。研修は面 白くなり始め、高知での生活もだんだん楽しくなり始めました。 　高知の人は、特に田舎に住む人は、温かくて親切でとても人懐っこい人ばかりです。話していることはあまり理解できなくても、一緒にいるとほっとしました。彼らの行動の端々から、温かい歓迎の気持ちや寛大な心、優しさを感じることができました。 　高知の返杯の習慣もまた、研修になくてはならないものでした。杯を交わすことによって、指導してくださった先生方や高知で出会った人々とより親しくなることができましたし、宴会の席での彼らとのやりとりの中で、私の日本語も上達しました。 　お祭りや運動会に参加したり、温泉に行ったことも、高知の人々と交流し、いろいろなことを学ぶよい機会となりました。それゆえに、時間があるときは絶対に誘いは断わりませんでした。 　これらのおかげで、研修はよりやり易くなりました。実際、以前より日本語を理解できるようになっていたので、私の質問は研修に関することにとどまらず、社会政治、教育、その他日本での生活に関することにまで及びました。 　日本語を知り理解することによって、日本人や日本の文化、伝統が見えるようになってきました。このことを実感した時、高知での生活がさらに楽しくおもしろいものとなりました。しかしながら、研修に関する専門用語や漢字など、まだまだ学ぶことはたくさんあります。 　最後に、私の研修を成功に導いてくださった皆様に心から感謝申し上げます。特に高知県国際交流課、高知県国際交流協会、農業技術センター山間試験場、嶺北農業改良普及センター、中央耕地事務所、農業技術センターの皆様やご指導いただいた先生方には大変お世話になりました。高知の文化や伝統を教えてくれ、素晴らしい経験をさせてくれた高知県民の皆様にも心からお礼申し上げます。皆様との温かい交流、皆様の友情、優しさ、寛大な心、このような高知の素晴らしい思い出は、一生忘れません。 灌漑施設を視察するデルフィンさん "Kochi Experiences: A Brief Recollection" by　Delfin D. Rufino 　At Kansai International Airport, the NW Airways plane landed. Yet I still could not believe I was in the so called"Land of the Raising Sun". I was so excited. 　 The Language barrier was the first problem I faced when I was asked a question at the exit counter. My excitement now turned to worries. I regretted that I did not take a Nihongo crash class in my country. "Nihongo" is difficult, so one month is not enough. Nevertheless, I tried my best. 　 Two, three months passed. At least I can now speak a little Nihongo and understand some conversations. My training is now becoming interesting and I am now beginning to enjoy my stay. 　 Kochi people, especially those in the rural areas, are warm, very friendly and kind. It was a relief that, although I don't understand very much their conversation, I could feel their warm welcome, generosity and kindness by observing their actions. 　 Kochi "henpai", was another opportunity necessary to maximize my training. Through it, I was able to befriend some of my sensei and other Kochi people I met. Also, I was able to improve my "Nihongo" by interacting with them. 　 Other Kochi cultures like festivals, "Undo-kai","Onsen" etc. These were other opportunities I also took to interact and learn with people. Hence, whenever I had time, I never failed to attend invitations. 　 With these, my training was made lighter and easier. In fact, as I learned "Nihongo" more, my questions were not only limited to my training subjects but to other topics like socio-politics, education and other aspects of Japanese living. 　 Knowing and understanding the Japanese language, the people and their culture and tradition makes differences. Indeed it was only when I realized these partly, that my stay in Kochi became more interesting and joyful. However, I feel there is still much to learn about Nihongo, especially technical terms and Kanji. 　 Lastly, I would like to thank all those who were instrumental in the success of my technical training. Specifically, I am indebted to the Kochi Prefectural Government, the International Affairs division, the KIA, the Highland Experimental Station, the Reihoku Extension Center, the Central Agicultural Land Offices, the Prefectural Aguricultural Research Center and to all of my sensei. Also, I give special thanks and appreciation to all Kochi People who have provided me with rich experiences of Kochi tradition and culture. Thank you very much for your warm interaction, your friendship, your kindness and your generosity. I will never forget these good memories I have of Kochi.
